Benefits

Having a garden comes with many benefits ranging from environmental benefits, health benefits and even mental health.
  • Environmental benefits:
    • Plants act as air cleaners by absorbing carbon dioxide, along with other air pollutants, which ends up releasing clean oxygen and fragrance.
    • A lot of plants attract butterflies. They are attracted to bright flowers and feed on their nectar.  When they do this their bodies collect pollen and carry it to other plants.  This helps the fruits, vegetables and flowers grow to produce new seeds.
    • Furthermore, if butterflies became extinct, they will affect the entire ecosystem.  If butterflies became extinct, many plant species would then be unable to reproduce.  This loss of plant life could also affect both animals and humans because unfortunately they are food for a number of animals.
  • Health/nutritional benefits:
    • Gardening is a form of exercise which helps reduce stress and low cholesterol or blood pressure
    • By growing your own garden, you will have organic fruits and vegetables which helps support a good health by minimizing intake of pesticides and fertilizers
  • Mental health benefits:
    • Gardening and landscaping is an art form.  Planning and watching your garden grow can fill a person with pride and satisfaction.
    • Merely by looking at a garden invokes emotions of calm, tranquility and happiness.
    • Butterflies are stunning to look at so they are good for our mental health.
